Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Offerbound (the browser extension and the Offerbound Pro service) handles, where it goes and why. In short: your job-search data lives in your browser, and our server only sees what a Pro AI request needs, only for as long as that request takes.

Data that stays in your browser

Your profile (name, contact details, work history, education, saved answers), your resume files and your application tracker are stored in your browser's local extension storage. We do not receive or store this data. It stays on your device unless you export a backup yourself or use a Pro AI feature as described below. Uninstalling the extension deletes it.

Pro AI features

When you run an AI action (importing a resume, tailoring a resume, writing a cover letter, drafting an answer or a networking message, interview preparation, or a question to Copilot), the extension sends the content needed for that one request to our server over an encrypted connection. Depending on the action, this can include:

  • your resume (as a PDF file or as structured text),
  • the job title, company, location and job description,
  • the application question, your current draft and any notes or facts you chose to include,
  • for Copilot, your question and the recent messages of that conversation.

Our server forwards this content to Anthropic, the provider of the Claude AI model, to generate the result, and returns the result to your browser. Our server does not store resume content, job descriptions, questions or AI output beyond the duration of the request, and does not write them to logs. Anthropic processes the content as our service provider under its commercial terms, which do not allow it to use this data to train its models; Anthropic may keep it for a limited period for safety and abuse monitoring as described in its policies at anthropic.com/legal.

If the Offerbound server you use is configured to run AI on a model it hosts itself instead of Anthropic, the content goes only to that server.

If you don't use AI features, none of your resume or profile content leaves your browser.

Data our server stores

For Pro subscribers we store:

  • your license key and its status (for example active or canceled),
  • the email address you gave at checkout,
  • Stripe customer and subscription IDs, and the end date of your current billing period,
  • a random installation ID used to deliver your license to the browser you upgraded from (deleted once claimed, or after 7 days),
  • counts of AI credits used per month, and short-lived request counters used for rate limiting.

For each AI request we log technical details only: the type of action, a short prefix of your license key, how many AI tokens were used and how long it took. We use this to run the service, prevent abuse and control costs.

Job search and job information

Job search runs in your browser. The extension downloads public job listings directly from the job boards you search (company boards on Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable and others, and — if you allow them — Remotive, Arbeitnow and RemoteOK). Listings are cached in your browser.

  • Broad search: when you search, or when "Jobs for you" refreshes, your search words or target job titles and the location you chose are sent to our server, which looks them up with Adzuna, a job-listing provider. No other personal data is sent.
  • Web app: the Offerbound web app reads the same public job boards through our server, because those boards don't allow direct browser requests. Our server passes the public listing data through and doesn't store it.
  • H-1B sponsorship history: company filing history comes from public U.S. Department of Labor data hosted on our server. To look up a company, the extension downloads the file for the first two letters of the company's name; the company name itself, and anything about you, is not sent.

No data is sent to job boards about you by the search feature.

Features that run only in your browser

These read or keep data on your device and send nothing to us: importing pasted emails (job alerts, recruiter requirements, replies), saved-search alerts and notifications, vendor and rate details for contract roles, answers Offerbound learns from what you type in forms (passwords, signatures and other sensitive fields are never learned), detecting an application confirmation ("Thank you for applying") to mark a job as Applied, and the "Copy fill report", which copies form field labels — not your typed values — to your clipboard.

Feedback and anonymous statistics

  • Feedback: when you use "Send feedback", we receive your message, its type, the app version and the name of the page you were on — and your email address only if you tick "Include my email". We keep feedback for up to 180 days and may email it to our support inbox.
  • Anonymous weekly statistics (off unless you turn on "Share anonymous weekly counts" in Settings): once a week the extension sends the number of applications, interviews, replies, offers, rejections and networking touches for the previous week, with the app version and a random identifier created for this purpose only (not your license key or install ID). No names, companies, job titles, resume content or contact details are included. We use these numbers to measure whether Offerbound helps people get interviews, and keep them for up to 400 days.
  • Backups are saved by your browser to your own Downloads folder and kept inside the extension; they are never sent to us.

Email

If you subscribe, we email your license key to the address you gave at checkout, and again if you ask us to through "Lost your key?". These emails are sent through our email provider, Resend, which receives your email address and the message content for delivery.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and are never seen or stored by us. Stripe's handling of your information is described in its privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.

Hosting

Our server runs on Cloudflare Workers. Like any web service, Cloudflare processes technical request data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the service.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell or rent your personal information.
  • We don't use your resume or job-search data for advertising.
  • We don't submit job applications on your behalf. The one exception is Dice "one-click apply": when you press that button on a Dice job, Offerbound fills and submits that job's Dice Easy Apply form, and stops to ask you about anything it can't answer.

Retention and deletion

License and billing records are kept while your subscription is active and for as long as needed afterwards for accounting, tax and legal purposes. Monthly usage counts expire automatically after about 40 days. To ask for your account data to be deleted, or for a copy of it, email support@getofferbound.com.

Children

Offerbound is not intended for anyone under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above, and for material changes we will notify Pro subscribers by email.
